I think the framework of this class is one of the essential debates of our generation. We are moving into a fast-paced system where critical thinking can sometimes fall to the wayside in the face of immediate gratification. We can lose sight of the norms that bind us, simply because they make life easier to understand and cope with. Gender and sexuality are the hottest topics of debate in the realm of social constructions and media are the central figures. This course is essential in keeping touch with these truth behind these constructions and that the elaborate systems that create them. Media constructions and portrayals of gender and sexuality cause us to question our own identities and the images we take for truth every day.
