I chose to take this class to fulfill a general elective. I have heard that Erin is a good teacher and I have never taken a class on gender and sexuality. The previous communitcation class I took was Media Structures and it did not focus on gender and sexuality. It will be interesting to get a new perspective.
It is important to study these topics becasue learning how the media operates will allow for a better understanding of cultural stereotypes, expectations, and assumptions of gender and sexulatiy.
